On.Energy is are looking for a cybersecurity leader to establish the foundational security posture of the company. This is not a compliance checkbox role — this is a builder’s job. You will be responsible for identifying risks, building security programs, and chasing down execution to ensure our systems, employees, and data are protected as the company enters a phase of exponential growth.
Responsibilities
Product Security
Secure development practices for BESS control systems, firmware, and software
Vulnerability management for products with 20+ year lifecycles
Supply chain security and vendor risk management
Customer security assessments and audit responses
Operational Security (OT/ICS)
OT network segmentation and architecture for BESS sites
Remote monitoring and SCADA platform security
Remote access controls and site security
NERC CIP readiness as we scale grid-connected assets
Corporate IT Security
Foundational program: IAM, MFA, endpoint protection, logging, patching
Security policies and training
SOC2 Type II / ISO 27001 readiness
Incident response across IT and OT
You'll also communicate risk to executives, lead audits, and build a 2-4 person team within 18 months.
Requirements
Requirements
8+ years in cybersecurity roles:
OT/ICS Security – Hands-on experience securing operational technology, industrial control systems, or field assets
Product Security – Building security into hardware, firmware, embedded systems, or long-lifecycle industrial equipment
Program Building – Establishing security programs from scratch in early-stage or resource-constrained environments
Technical Skills:
Cloud security (AWS/M365) and identity management
ICS Security Framework experience (NERC-CIP, IEC 62443, or similar) and general security frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS, ISO, etc.)
OT/ICS architectures and industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA)
Core Traits:
Comfortable working independently and driving execution
Strategic mindset, with the ability to communicate risks and priorities to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred:
Direct experience with battery energy storage, solar+storage, datacenters, or DER systems
Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, GICSP, Security+
